Word Help Feature

I'd like to use the Offline/on my computer options, but there's an x by it
and I can't seem to change it. Is it possible that it wasn't loaded when
Office 07 wa installed?

Have you tried diagnosing/repairing the installation (Office button | Word
Options, Resources category, click the Diagnose button)?
 
Yes, I have, and there are no problems found.
