Word has insufficient memory

I am working on a Word document with approximately 70 pages with links to
Excel. About half way through the document I receive a message of "Word has
insuffient memory. You will not be able to undue this action once it is
completed. Do you want to continue? Yes or No"
What is the problem and how can I solve it?

Word is running out of space to keep track of your changes and the links. Doing
a lot of table editing and formatting? Try SAVING your work more often and see
if that reduces the frequency.

This may not be a RAM-only issue, although more RAM can never hurt.

How much free space do you have on your hard drive & how badly fragmented is
it? Most modern software as well as Windows need a large amount of
consecutive free space in order to operate. Lack of same can be interpreted
by the system as an "insufficient memory" problem.
