Word freezes once whenever I turn the computer on

Sometimes when I try to open a Word 2003 document (from Office XP pro), Word
will get as far as opening, then it will freeze and become non-responsive. If
I ctl+alt+del I see multiple versions of Microsoft Word running. I can only
exit by doing the whole "close window", "End Now", "Don't Send Error Report"
process. I have tried removing corrupt templates and data keys and that has
not helped. Here's the funny thing, this only happens the first time I try to
open word after I turn on my computer. After I do this once, Word functions
perfectly until I have to turn off my computer (it's a laptop so I have to
turn it off sometime) and then when I turn it back on it's the same thing. I
have no more ideas. This may happen with other Office programs too, but I
don't tend to use them as often. If someone could please help I would greatly
appreciate it.

Next time, "Send" the error report. That should lead you to a Microsoft web
page that will tell you what to do next.

If it doesn't, open the Help menu in Word (or any of the Office
applications) and look for the "Detect and repair" option.

Run it. Be prepared to wait: it can take 45 minutes to run. It should fix
the problem, whatever it is.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the help, but . . .Sending the error report does nothing. I tried
the detect and repair and I am still having the same problem. What else can
ou suggest?
