Word formatting

Hi folks,
I wonder can anyone assist. I've recently switched PCs and whilst I
transferred my "Normal Word" doc from one to the other it has changed. I now
find that when I start to creat for example a letter - the adressee's details
seem to be in "multiple" line spacing, rather than single line spacing.
Highlighting and changing to single spacing makes very little difference and
when the letter is printed out this creates different spacings. The actual
body of the letter seems to be OK as I normally use justified text so it
transfers to the next line and everything is in "Single" spacing. If however
I use "New line" (Carriage return? - showing my age) it reverts to the larger
spacing.
Anyone got any suggestions?

You could use a line break (Shift+Enter) instead of a paragraph break, but
the main issue is that the style you are using evidently has some Space
After included.
