Word for Windows 6.0 Help

I have some Notepad files that I need to open and when I try I get an error
message that says "Cannot open Word for Windows 6.0 files. What do I need to
do to be able to read these? Any help or suggestions will be GREATLY
appreciated. I am using XP Home Edition.

Some Notepad files open fine but others don't and give me the error message.

If these are WORD files, you need WORD - or an application that can render
them.
In lieu of the full blown program, there are WORD viewers here...
