Word - End User License Agreement Pop-up

N

Navyguy

I have a Dell Dimension 8200 with XP, SP3, Windows Firewall, Avira
antivirus,
Spybot and Hive Cleanup and all the programs work well together and I
regularly
check for updates.

I don’t know if this is the correct venue for this but for some reason
today when I opened
Word it gave me a pop-up to accept the End User License Agreement. I
have had Word
on my computer ever since I bought it and I haven’t added or removed
or changed anything
to cause this.

I would appreciate any thoughts/suggestions to resolve this issue.

Thanks,
Robert

When did you buy the computer?

Did the version you are running come bundled with the computer? If so, is it
a "trial" version or "full" retail. Often, the software that comes bundled
with a pc is a "try it out" version that expires at some point in the future
unless you elect to buy it.

That said, what happened/happens when you "Accept" the user agreement?

When did you buy the computer?

I bought the computer in 2003 I believe

It came bundled with the computer and is a full retail version. When I
click to accept the End
User License Agreement it disappears and I can work normally. However
I shouldn't have to go
through any of this as I already did so when I installed the program.

I have the Office XP version (sorry for not mentioning this earlier)
and I followed the link you gave but it said to
just click accept on the End User License Agreement. The only other
alternative it gave was to change my
registry! It seems to me that is rather a severe solution for this
problem. Perhaps I should just re-install Word?

It came bundled with the computer and is a full retail version.

It may not be relevant to your problem, but almost certainly if it
came bundled with the computer it is an *OEM* version, *not* a retail
one.

Yes, your correct it is an OEM version. I think perhaps I'll just
install it again.

Ok, I just reinstalled Word and its doing the exact same thing!@! I
would appreciate any help in resolving this issue short of changing my
registry.
