HI i'm technical support of Citibank Makati, my friend
having a problem regarding Microsoft Word documents, the
documents become zero bytes without doing something. if
you login as a administrator profile you can see the
actual size of the file but if you open it its a blank
document, we scan the file but no virus found. i.e.
Windows 2000 OS and Office 2000 Office.

Have you confirmed that the files are valid Word files by opening with
another copy of Word?

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

email from my friend: Yup it is a valid word document
file... Actually he always using the file then all of a
sudden all of his files became zero byte but the filenames
remain the same... Do you have ant idea regarding this...
Three users have the same problem right now here... All
office files all became zero byte... Word, Excel and
Powerpoint... Is this a virus?

I have a hunch this caused by a nefarious program, like a virus. The
"all of the sudden" symptom suggests this. Check out the machine with up
to date virus detection software, and check the anti-virus vendor's web
site for clues about this.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

I'm inclined to agree. There was a recent virus that attacked Office
documents in this fashion. I forget what it was called.
