I accidentally deleted a very important document. Is there any possible way
that I can get it back, even if I already emptied the recycling bin? Please
help.

Only if you're very lucky. Take out the hard drive, put it into a system
which doesn't use restore, and try data recovery or send it to a data
recovery specialist.

Ewwwwwwwwwwww

I gotta tell you - I can't think of ANY document that is so important that I
would do that.

Your file may be recoverable, but do NOT do any more with the system
otherwise you might overwrite the file, if you haven't already..

A program like File Recover will have as good a chance as any at retrieving
your file..

http://www.pctools.com/file-recover/

It costs, of course, and it may not get your file back.. if you take this
route, do NOT install the program onto the drive where the deleted file is..

<g> Nope, nor can I. Maybe if I were smart enough to be doing a doctoral
theses and not smart enough to keep it backed up?

Any chance you have the default "create backups" turned on? If
so, it's going to still be there, named "backup filename.wbk".
Might be a rev old, but better than nothing.

Makes me think of an expression my mom used to use to describe me when I was
younger - Book smart but common sense dumb. (Time and age has greatly
improved that second part.)

Hello,

EASEUS DataRecoveryWizard utility can help. Speaking about me, it was
easily able to restore deleted, lost file and unformat drive,
so I think you will also find it quite useful. Really recommended
tool, give it a try.
