I have a user that likes to protect his doc's with a password, and he cannot
remember the password, how can I delete the password for a word document.
thanks in advance

JC

It depends on what level of protection he used.

If the password is just to keep you from changing the document or for
filling in forms, (i.e., it opens as "Read Only"), you can copy the contents
into a new document.

If the password is to open the document, you have very few options. One
option is to pray he has a hard copy you can re-type. The other option to
purchase third-party password-cracking software. However, I'm not real
comfortable with the idea of doing business with a company that sells tools
to help you sneak past other people's computer security. (Hmmm . . . If they
know how to do that . . .)

Good luck.
