Word Document Exploded to Over 100 Meg

I've been working off and on with a document which uses styles tied to
outlined numbered lists. I've moved stuff around, copied in portions of
other documents, etc. I was somewhat dismayed to see it at 10 meg in size
with 16 pages in it. I've added 3 resumes (6 pages) to the document and now
it is over 100 megs in size. There are no pictures in it at all... just
formatted text.

Why is the darn thing so large (and slow), and what can I do to shrink it?

TIA

Thanks. The recover fixed it. Didn't even know it existed.

I had several text boxes... said 13 of them were in error... whatever that
was... but it dropped the file size from 101 megs to 381 kb.
