word document created in 203 sent as attchment states its a DAT

word document created in 203 sent as attchment states its a DAT file, what
could be the issue am i doing anything wrong at my end?
 
I think this can happen if you are using Outlook (not sure of version
dependence, if any) and the recipient is not. Try Googling for the name of
the dat file - I can't remember all the details
 
Remembered after posting that this doesn't happen if you send plain text -
just when you use RTF or HTML formats.
