Word docs not opening nor saving

When I first attempted to open a word document using the FILE tab (word
was opened) it would freeze and I would get a NOT REPSONDING message
(in the OPEN file box). So then I opened it from My Docs directly and
had not problem until ... right in the middle of typing it read again
NOT RESPONDING. So now I cannot open any documents in word from
anywhere. So annoying, especially when i need to get a paper out in
two days. So I checked online to no avail and came across this site.

Now, the history of the problems are as follows: because of an old
wiring issue in my building, my fuse blew a couple of times already.
Amongst a few problems, this is the first problem I am having with
word. Could this be part of the problem? More importantly, how do I
fix the WORD problem.
