Word cursor keeps disappearing. How do I stop it?

After about 30 seconds the cursor disappears on Word. If I am typing at the
time, everything I type after it's happened is lost. I have to click back on
the screen to make it reappear. I am sure there is a simple solution, but I
don't know what it is!

Some other running application is taking focus from Word. What else is
running?

thanks for the reply. It seems to be working okay now, after I pasted my word
2000 docs onto my new 2002 Word.
