Word count

The Word Count section is gone from the bottom of my word documents.
Presumably this is because I hid the Status Bar, not realizing the word count
was part of it. I can't remember how I did it, to undo it.

A Help search on "status bar" yields results with "bar" in them. A search on
this site yields someone asking the same question, but from 2005 (I can't
*believe* there's no way to sort search returns by date. Did I somehow miss
it?)

If anybody can tell me how to get the status bar back, I'd be grateful.

On the Tools menu, select Options, click the View tab and underneath Show,
click Status Bar, click OK.

Hope this helps!

Assuming that you are using Word 2007...

Right+click on the status bar. A large "drop up (?)" menu will appear. Click
on "Word Count" so that it has a check mark.

Thanks, that was very clear.

I hope Microsoft asks y'all to keep track of these questions so they can add
them to Help. It's really annoying when you type in an MS/Word phrase like
"status bar" that Help refers to all the time and the first hit is "Turn on
or off change tracking," in which the phrase on;y appears. I never did find
anything on the status bar itself, or the right-click possibilities.

Another thing that should have been in the 2007 Help is "Change Case," a
command from many earlier versions of Word, the function for which is still
there, but which gets no hits in Help to tell you where to find it.

So if you get to pass along comments, please pass along that one, Meanwhile,
Help won't be putting you out of work anytime soon.

Thanks again!
