Word attachment in Outlook won't open

My client regularly sends Word files as attachments to their clients. One of
their clients reports that they can't open the attachments, either the open
hangs or an error message saying it contains a virus is issued. This only
happens with all the recipients at one corporation.

My client uses a template to create these status reports they are sending as
attachments. The template contains one image, their logo.

Does anyone have a clue why this fortune 500 company can't open my clients
attachments? I'm suspecting it has something to do with their corporate AV
software. Is there some workaround?

Thanks.

Can they save it and then open it?
Yes, I'd say it has to do with their antivirus scanner.
You'll need to find out why they are blocking it and what workaround they
provide. Maybe you can get it through as part of the email body or in
another format.

Thanks Bill. Yes they can open it when saved. I agree, probably AV scanner.
Problem is it's hard to tell an executive they need to perform extra steps
and adhere to best practices. I've suggested my client convert the Word docs
to PDF and see if that improves the situation.
