Word assistant changed format of all documents... please help

I am, wondering if someone can please help me. I was cutting and
pasting some articles for research for uni into a word file and taking
notes underneath each. The word assistant said something about me
writing in areas where there is invisible text, but thats all I read.
I went to press no but pressed yes accidentally. Now all my word files
(even new files and files i had created long before) come up with dots
instead of spaces like.this.between.every.word. and after each
paragraph there is the paragraph symbol (the backwards looking p) and
where i have pressed tab, there is an arrow. Please help me get rid of
these annoying little things, I cannot submit my work to uni in this
manner.

Thanks anyone

In Word, Tools - Options - View Tab. Look in the section entitled
"Formatting marks". Deselect all boxes and see if that does it.

If I understand your post correctly, you're talking about having turned
on viewing the non-printing characters. Some people find it useful to
see these (I'm one of those people), and they are *non*-printing
characters; i.e., they don't print out on the document. If you find
them distracting, there should be a little icon in the toolbar that
looks like a paragraph symbol. Click it to toggle it off. Or if you
don't see that symbol, find the option to display non-printing
characters and turn it off.
