Word and Notepad scroll while I'm typing

When I'm typing in either application, they scroll madly. The cursor doesn't
move, but sometimes it's off the screen. It's very difficult to work with
this going on.

Thanx.

Hi,

First, make sure word wrap is enabled in both applications. That should
resolve the issue of the cursor going out of view.

As to the scrolling, I suspect perhaps you have a laptop with a touchpad?
It's very easy to brush this while typing and it will cause the screen to
scroll. Some have a switch to disable the touchpad, and if yours does you
might want to try using it. Otherwise, try to be aware of where your hands
are resting.

I'm having problems with wordpad. When I download a file and it's supposed
to open in wordpad, it opens but it's in "Computer Language", all kinds of
symbols and letters. How can I fix this??

Why do you think a file is "...supposed to open in Wordpad..."? What's the
extension of the file, e.g., .doc, .exe, etc.

Makes for a nice change of scenery, don't it? That's why the nice folks
who write the software put this feature into Vista.

Yes. Compaq Presario. And Rick is right. It's the touchpad. I didn't think it
was because I tried to make it happen. I opened a document and rubbed all
over the touchpad. For some reason nothing happened. Then I I ran my finger
diagonally across the upper right corner. After that, every time I touched it
it scrolled. I couldnt find any button to turn the pad off. I couldn't find
anything in Help. I guess it's on to the hardware forum. Thanx guys.

Try opening a blank Word Pad. Save it. A box will open up. Leave the file
name Document. Where it says Save As Type, use the arrow to go to Rich Text
Format and check the box where it says Save in this format by default. This
might work.
