Hi!

I installed the office 97 under my xp and
then i went --> word --> tools --> options,
but the spelling part was inactive, so i am
not able to use the spell-check [program].:(
I'm the administrator on this xp.

A good idea? please help!

Installation flaw. Simplest way probably is simply do a re-install.
Look carefully at the install options to ensure speling installing.
Spelling in 97 and XP should work fine.

Hi!
Download the file here: Replace the Csapi3t1.dll file

Thanks for the supplemental information ... however:

1. the solution on this web page has to do with spelling problems with
Outlook Express ... I don't read that was the OP's probablem. I'm
resisting temptation to assume.

2. while I have no reason whatsoever to have any suspicion of the dll
file you suggest downloading, but how does one know that this is a valid
file and why should one just "download from the internet" a file like
this? Downloading from sources unknown to the downloader is normally
considered risky behaviour on the Internet and is a discouraged activity
(at least I discourage it). Getting this Microsoft-compiled DLL file
from a Microsoft web site would be acceptable, as is getting it from the
XP CD or c:\i386 folder (as your web site suggests)--the source being
known for all there of these files.

I'm just not sure I'm comfortable with this advice in an open forum like
this. Just my two bits, I guess.

Hi, Rob.

If an MS-MVP tells you it's OK, then you can bet it is.

I know I'm being pedantic here ... I like better this Microsoft site for
reference, but I note here that even they don't provide a file for download.

It's ok. Peace. But I just have to register my concern/observation that
people get pointed to "any old" web sites with no real authentication
to "download" something. Diametrically opposite prudent use of the the
internet in today's world.

Anybody can represent themselves to be anybody at any time here. It's
just a matter of prudence and example of "best practice."

Download it and scan it, Richard.
