Word 2007

As a Word user of eleven years, I feel it is necessary to express my blatant
disappointment with this 2007 version of the Word software. I depend on Word
for school papers, and note organization, and have made heavy use of VBA
macros, and am somewhat defendant on them for common tasks. The fact that the
new Word object model does not support all of the 2003 commands is a tad
disappointing, but I could have gotten through it and redesigned my macros.
The new interface is horrible. I cannot believe that Microsoft has thrown
away customization and a well organized set of menus for the decorative
"ribbon." The items are not re organizable, and it's not possible to create
additional ribbons without extensive add on programming (I assume it is
possible through add-ons). The fact that it took me ten minutes to determine
how to access the "options" dialog is insane. I recently purchased a new
computer with windows vista, and was looking forward to the new office suite.
Now I am faced with the dilemma of either trying to install my old version of
word 2003, or choose another product altogether. Microsoft has always been
able to accommodate functionality and optional simplicity for new
inexperienced users. Are your new users more valuable to you than your long
time dedicated users?
