Word 2007

I can't access the link but if you have support for Chinese, Japanese, or
Korean enabled then you'll see a Text Direction command in the Page Setup
group but that doesn't sound like that's what you are seeing. If you are
using an English version of Word then there is no such group on the Page
Layout tab in the default installation named "Genko" and I suspect it's a
Ribbon customization.

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.

That links says that the Test Drive has expired.

In any case, the only groups in the Page Layout tab in any version of Word
2007 are:

Themes
Page Setup
Page Background
Paragraph
Arrange

No Genko, and I've no clue what that might mean in any other language. All I
can tell you is that there is no Genko in Word 2007's Page Layout tab. If
it's there in that one, it wasn't put there by Microsoft. :)

Got to the online tutorial page, using the following steps

1. Opened www.microsoft.com.
2. A message appeared "The next 8 hours will be very very different.
OFFICE2007.COM"
Clicked on "OFFICE \2007.COM".
3. Clicked on Test drive.
4. Clicked on Test Drive Microsoft Office.
5. It will take one through 5 steps via tabs .
Clicked on Continue.
Clicked on Register Now.
Clicked on Launch Test Drive.
6. A new window/tab opens where it will set up the tutorials.
Clicked on Office Word 2007.

Hi N.,

Genko (grid) Mode is a Japanese language support mode in Word 2003 and 2007 . Word 2007's online test drive includes several
Japanese support add-ins and wizards that can be called up.

Normally you'll only see the Genko group with Genko settings if you have enabled Japanese or the specific add-ins and have Japanese
text in the document.

You may want to also post in the Word International features discussion group on this using the link below. MS's Michael Kaplan,
who is involved in those type of language features, pops in there from time to time.

==============
Under the pagelayout tab, a group named "Genko" is available in the online tutorial

In point 5 of exercise 1 , there is no mention of this group. and this is
not available in the MS office home and student edition which I have.

Can any one tell for what purpose this group may be used for?

Thankyou all for the replies. This has helped me learn, where to look for
issues while using Indic in Office.
