Word 2003 had an autoformat button. When one copied and pasted from any
document on the internet, one could hit that button and the font would be
changed to changed to one's own personal taste including the single and
double quotation marks.

Word 2007 does a good job with converting to personal tastes as far as the
font goes, but the single and double quotation marks stay the same as the
original internet document. ie. if they were straight, they stay straight and
if the were curved, they remain curved. Is there a way to get them to change
consistent with one's individual setup?

Have you checked which options you have activated for AutoFormat? Most
especially, for Smart quotes?

Click the big button at top left. Click Word Options at the bottom right of the
menu. Go to proofing, then AutoCorrect Options. Look in the AutoFormat tab (not
the one with "as you type").
