word 2007 question :-)

Hey i have word 2007 and i love it,
i have a question about the little symble appears at the left end of the
ruler. when i click it it changes its shape!?! but i dont know what the
implementation of that thing is!

any help x

A symbol that looks like an L? It is the tab type indicator that toggles
between the various types of tabs that you can insert by clicking the ruler
and has been present in all Word versions.
