Word 2007 Outline problems

Hi,
Problems: 1. can't highlight and demote multiple headings
2. Can't view the OUtline tools toolbar within Outline View

This function is rather corrupt for me in Word 2007 using Windows XP. I have
a large document--about 1800 pages--that I have revision marks on (note that
I have accepted revision marks last week, so it is not "revision mark
heavy"). I promoted some headings and this triggered some problems. Anyway,
it's rather time consuming to explain so I will have to shorten it. Suffice
it to say that I accidentally promoted the Appendix headings. Appendix
headings I assign levels 6 through 9. So they got promoted to levels 5
through 8 accidentally. I had gone back to Print Layout view, done a whole
bunch of stuff, before I found I had made this error. So I went back into
Outline View. I showed level 9 so I could highlight and demote the headings I
had accidentally promoted, I higlighted them all at once and clicked the
demote (right0ponting) arrow, but it modified only the first heading in my
highllight. Then I gave up as I cannot waste my time demoting one heading at
a time. I have tons of them. So I decided to use undo instead. After I did
undo and went back into Outline view, I no lnoger had my OUtline toolbar that
give you the "show level" option and the demote and promote buttons. The
toolbar was gone.

Do you have any advice in working in Outline view of 2007?

Do yu know about these bugs? I did a search of this list but found no othe
rposts. I can also search knowledge base. I will do that but I would like
your feedback as well.

Thank you,

Update: I closed and opened the file, went into Print Layout view, turned off
revision marks, updated my TOC, and then went into Outline view. Now I had my
Outline toolbar. So I promoted my headings like before, only without
accidentally promoting my appendix headings this time. However, a new problem
occurred. Now it has decided that my first appendix levels 7-9 numbering
should be thrown off. Even though I did nothing to it at all, the numbering
has been made corrupt. Previous headings that I changed should not have
affected the appendix headings. And, even though the first heading that says
"Appendix A. Databank" looks okay, the next appendix says "Appendix A. System
Messages" instead of "Appendix B." And all the subsequent appendixes are
reassigned the numbering as if Appendix A didn't exist. Now, the headings are
all assigned correctly in the "real" Appendix A, so there is nothing I can do
about it. This is a bug.

If you have any advice, I would appreciate it.
