Word 2007: Numbered List not restarting after new heading

I hope someone can help me...I am really struggling with this.

I have been tasked with creating a template for our company. Everything
‘appears’ as though it is configured correctly – all the styles I want are
available.

I have configured several different heading levels – each are numbered as
follows...

1 Heading 1
2 Heading 1
2.1 Heading 2
2.2 Heading 2
3 Heading 1
3.1 Heading 2
3.1.1 Heading 3
3.1.2 Heading 3

....all good and straight forward....Until...

The problem arises when I want to create a numbered list.

What I end up with is this...

1 Heading 1

1 Apples

  • 2 Bananas

    • 1 Grapes

      • 2 Oranges

        • 2 Heading 1

          3 Pears

          • 4 Pineapples

            • 2.1 Heading 2

              5 Kiwi

              • 6 Potato

                • 1 Carrots

                  • 2 Onions

                    • 2.2 Heading 2

                      7 Cucumber

                      • 8 Peppers

                        • 3 Heading 1

                          9 Lettuce

                          • 10 Tomatoes

                            • 3.1 Heading 2

                              3.1.1 Heading 3

                              3.1.2 Heading 3


                              ....and what I want is this...

                              1 Heading 1

                              1 Apples

                              • 2 Bananas

                                • 1 Grapes

                                  • 2 Oranges

                                    • 2 Heading 1

                                      1 Pears

                                      • 2 Pineapples

                                        • 2.1 Heading 2

                                          1 Kiwi

                                          • 2 Potato

                                            • 1 Carrots

                                              • 2 Onions

                                                • 2.2 Heading 2

                                                  1 Cucumber

                                                  • 2 Peppers

                                                          PLEASE can anyone help?...If it would make it easier, I will be happy to

Since your numbered list should restart after *any* heading (not after a
particular one), there isn't much you can do but manually restart your list.
Right-click and choose Restart at 1 from the context menu.
