word 2007 as email editor for outlook 2003

I have outlook 2003 and previously had word 2003 as my email editor. I have
now up graded to Word 2007 but outlook 03 will not recognise Word 07. It is
greyed out on the mail format box under tools.
do I have to upgrade to outlook 2007 to make them compatible

Sort of. Outlook 2007 does not use Word 2007 as its email editor, but it
uses a clone of Word 2007.

If you plan on keeping Office 2007 (I presume you are currently running the
trial) then upgrade to Outlook 2007, which is a worthwhile update. If not
then you will have to use Outlook 2003's own editor for e-mails.
