Word 2007 and Outlook 2007

Recent problem. When using Word, Mailing function and inserting addresses
for an envelope or label from Outlook Contacts the following occurs. Word
indicates that it has stopped working and provides the message that Microsoft
will provide a solution and then it (Word) closes. Outlook as a stand alone
program works fine. Any ideas would be appreciated. The only thing I have
done recently was to export my Contacts file (.pst) to a thumb drive for
storage.

Does it still do so when Outlook is already open when you make the
insertion?
This problem occurs here from time to time. Repairing Office from the
Windows add or remove programs applet fixes it for me.

Yes, it works fine when Outlook is already open. I ran the Repair function,
rebooted but the problem still persist. Appreciate what for now proves to be
a work-around. I will try running the repair one more time and see if it can
correct the problem the second time around.
Thanks for the information.

2nd time around did not cure the situation. Any other thoughts on a fix
would be appreciated. Again thanks for the work around of having Outlook
open for the paste function, sort of a pain but it works.

It is always worth attending to the issues at
http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm then
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProblemsStartingWord.htm. but repairing
Office from Windows Add or Remove programs has fixed it for me on the couple
of occasions when the problem has occurred. As I tend to have Outlook open
all the time, I cannot say how often the problem has arisen.

Thanks for the help. I'm thinking the only fix for this would be to
uninstall and then reinstall Office. I'll give it some time but I do
appreciate the assistance.

Uninstall - reinstall rarely fixes anything. Did you go through all of
Graham's steps?
