Word 2003 Style Set in Word 2007

Microsoft added the Word 2003 Style Set just before releasing Word 2007.
However, the Word 2003 Style Set does not use all the original Word 2003
defaults. For example, in Word 2003, the default font was Times New Roman 12.
In the Word 2003 Style Set in Word 2007, the default font is Calibri 12. In
Word 2003, the default margins were 1.25" but in the Word 2003 Style Set in
Word 2007, the default margins are 1". Why did Microsoft choose to use some
of the original Word 2003 defaults (line spacing of single and spacing after
paragraphs of zero) but changed others? What's the point of adding the Word
2003 Style Set if it doesn't replicate the Word 2003 defaults?

Styles have nothing to do with document layout (margins), which must be set
separately. As for the fonts, have you changed the fonts to Office Classic?

I agree with you about the margins. How do you change ethe fonts to Office
Classic? Can't styles control spacing after paragraphs? How about line
spacing? Thanks in advance.

Click the arrow on the Change Styles button, then choose Fonts. Office
Classic is one of the options.

Paragraph styles can control fonts and line spacing. If you modify the
styles and save the changes to Normal.dotm, they will be effective for all
new documents. I *think* if you change the fonts and the style set and then
click "Set as Default," you accomplish this, but I'm not sure.
