Word 2003 locks up when I paste even plain text from IE6

I must have changed a setting in Word or in Internet Explorer. Now when I
copy and paste even plain text from IE to Word, Word locks up. Of course, if
I "Paste Special" and select "Formated Text (RTF)" instead of the default
"HTML format" then it is fine but I never had to do that before. Help! Does
anyone know what I have messed up?
 
Does it do this for ANY website, or one in particular? The issue can be
that, even for plain text, Word may be trying to retrieve the CSS or other
referenced matter for the source page, and the 'lock up' is a problem with
that retrieval.
 
OK, I finally figured it out myself. Apparently I'd made a change in Norton
Internet Security. I permited Word and it's all better.
