Word 2003 - File and Tools drowndown menus stopped working

My dropdown menus on File and Tools in MS Word stopping working. Uninstalled
and installed an still no change. The only addin that is on the machine is
Adobe Acrobat 7 but is was working OK prior to a point that I do not
remember. It just seemed to happen out of the blue. All the other dropdowns
work fine.
