word 2003 dropdown menu

In my drop down box in word 2003, the font menu only shows the first letter
of the alphabet A-Z. All of my fonts are in my font folder in windows XP.
Also if a document is already created, it will show the font. Any help?

Someone yesterday found this answer helpful in a similar situation:

This problem occurs when Word is set to (Windows 95) compatibility mode in
Windows XP. Instructions from Office MVP Beth Melton for correcting this:

To rectify:

- Locate WinWord.exe
- Right-click and select Properties
- Select the Compatibility tab
- See if you have a Compatibility Mode set
- If set remove the tick in "Run this program in compatibility mode"
