Word 2003 - Document Header Advice Please

Observation
I find if I change the header during a document ....it ripples throughout
the document.

Question 1
Is there a way in Word 2003 to change the header text within a document.
For example header 1 pages 1 to 2 and header 2 pages 3 to 10 etc...

Question 2
Can any one clarify the purpose of a header if it can't be changed within a
document?

To date I have just not been using the header an typing individual headings
because it applies throughout the full document..which I don't always want.

Any advice would be appreciated.....thanks in advance

Thanks for the Reply and nice link Suzanne.

Is there a quick way to replace page breaks with section breaks?

Yes, but not the way you might at first think. Although there is a special
code (^b) for section breaks in the Replace dialog, it can be used only in
the "Find what" box, not in "Replace with," because there are several kinds
of section breaks, and Word wouldn't know which kind you wanted.

You can, however, insert a section break (Next Page, probably) in place of
one page break. Then select the section break and copy it to the Clipboard.
Then search for ^m (a manual page break) and replace with ^c (Clipboard
contents).
