Word 2003-- crashes, clipboard

Hi there, I seem to have a problem with Word (gee, what a surprise) 2003.
Everytime I start it up in the morning, I get the installer dialog box. It
keeps crashing on me, and today, I actually lost all of my number formatting
in a 10-page document.

Another thing that happens, is that I can't paste anything from the
clipboard (items 2-24). I click the copied text or right-click and click
Paste, and nothing happens.

I am at a loss, and the tech support guy thinks I have a program that is
conflicting. I have doubts about this, as this is a fairly new problem
(started when I got the new laptop 4 weeks ago) and I have checked all of my
settings in Windows and Word Options, but can find no problems.

I will have Office reinstalled tomorrow and I will check for updates or
patches, but I was just wondering if these are known issues.
