Word 2002 Print Layout Viewing Problem

Periodically, when I'm in page layout there is a black band that goes accross
the bottom of the page, it looks like shading but it covers about a third of
the page, always starting at the bottom.

If i change the view from "Print Layout" to "Normal" for instance the black
band goes away, it also appears in Print preview, but not when i print it
out. Is there any way to change this??
