Word 2002 on Vista

Good Morning - I installed my XP Small Business Enterprise onto a new laptop
with Vitsa. From this install Outlook and Excel work fine, but Word does not
allow the saving of Word documents, it defaults to Wordpad. I cannot also
open Word documents from my external drive in Word either. Is there an
update or something I need to enable this? Or, is there a setting that needs
changing? I am not a hugely experienced IT hardware person, so any help you
can give would be appreciated.
 
word 2002 works with vista

go to open with> and select word and chose to always open with that program.

make sure you are saveing in doc and not rtf

I have done this already, but it makes no difference.
