word 2000 viewer to open file external not embedded

Situation:
On several of our public workstations, we installed Word
2000 viewer for individuals to view and print word
documents. We have had continuous problems printing when
the viewer embeddes itself within Intrenet explorer ...
blank pages, partial pages. If the document is saved
then opened with the viewer and printed, it works fine.

Question:
Is there a way to force the viewer to open external to
IE6 not be embedded?
