Word 2000 Templates

My company just switched from Windows 2000 Professional to XP operating system (they did not change their version of Word which is still 2000). I was running a special Normal.dot template that contained some vba to insert auto text and some standard templates from a custom tool bar. In Windows 2000 professionsal I placed the normal.dot in C:/program files/microsoft office/templates so that all of the users on my computer could open the template automatically when they open word (of course Tools/File locations in Word was matched to that directory.). However, now when I do the same thing, the template does not automatically pop up, no tool bar appears either.

If I place the custom normal.dot on the desktop and then double click all is fine. But I'd rather not work that way

Also, I have tried to put the normal.dot into the C:/Microsoft Office/Office/Start up folder as well - no good result came from that either

Please advise

Not absolutely sure, but try placing the Normal.dot file in C:\Documents and
Settings\<username>\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates. You may need to
place a copy of the file in each users account.

If this does not work, you might want to post this message to one of the
MSOffice groups.
