Word 2000 opening document slowly

When I open a document by file open then select the document it opens
instantly. When I browse to the word document and select open it from Outlook
attachment it takes 15-30 seconds or longer to open the document. I have
re-installed Office 2k and re-applied SP3 and Still have the problem. I
change my default printer to a local printer and disable all background apps
and some services. The system is running Windows XP with SP2 any ideas.

My first thought would be anti-virus software doing a scan...
