Word 2000 crashing upon opening

I run Word 2000 on a Window ME platform. Recently I found it crashing upon
opening. After several tries to reinstall it and reinstalling the Windows
updates I still have the same problem. Is there any solution out there or am
I just going to have to junk my computer? In the interim I'm using
Wordperfect.

Re-installing Office rarely addresses such issues and is largely a waste of
