Word 2000 clipboard

Is this just me or is this wierd

Office 2000 apps (Word, Excel) ignore the clipboard unless the app is open
when the copy is made e.g.

take a copy of text (whatever from wherever)
open Word
Paste - nadda

this behaviour is doing my head in - does Office 2000 use it's own clipboard
? this wasn't problem in Office 97

nope - usually mean they know it's a problem but it's best buried & hope
noone will notice )

i'm seriously considering going back to office 97

Jethro,

People answering here are not from MS, so have no reason to hope no one
notices problems. Your message probably just got missed in all the traffic,
and Don replying without detail on the problem wouldn't help.

I think it is usually a badly-designed add-in that clears the clipboard when
starting up Word, but the only one I remember offhand is Works Suite, so
that doesn't sound like your problem. If you use Google Groups to search
the MS Office groups, you may find a better answer. This question has
definitely been asked and answered before.

are you saying this problem is particular to my setup - as opposed to office
2000 perse?

i was assuming it was a peculiarity of Office 2k (p.s. same applies to XL. i
haven't tried the other apps yet)

I'm pretty sure it's peculiar to your setup (definitely not the case for my
MacWord 2001), but I am honestly going on my vague memory of posts in the
past where people have complained about this, and I know very little re PCs
anyhow. I believe the response has been that this is not supposed to happen.

Best options, if no one else chimes in :

--Test your add-ins by removing them in turn. I think the Norton Anti-Virus
Add-in also tends to create problems.
--Use Google Groups to do a search on the MS groups for clipboard problems

(by the way, could you possibly have posted this question in another group?
Often the reason for no answer is that it's been answered elsewhere)

thanx very much - it was an add-in of sorts (some OCR software 'Office
Express') - it must been flushing the buffer as it loaded - it's been
uninstalled now and everythings working again - niggling little problem to
talk about but it was driving me bananas

p.s. it didn't do it in Office 97 (it was installed before i upgraded to 2k)
