I currently have word 2000. Word 2003 has a text to speech function that I
would like to get for my desktop. First can I download an upgrade to my
office 2000 to 2003, or should I go with the 2007? Second I dont know for
sure if office 2007 has the text to speech function liken the 2003 version?
Please help

You cannot download Word 2003/Office 2003 from anywhere, at least not
legally. You can purchase an Office 2003 CD and install Word 2003 from
the CD. Word 2007/Office 2007 do not include the speech recognition
features that Word 2003/Office 2003 do, but instead rely on whatever the
operating system offers in this regard.

Thank you, can I download the upgrade from Microsoft's website from my 2000
version to 2003?

As 'g-n-o' already told you - you cannot download 2003 from anywhere
legally. Certainly not from Microsoft. Nor can you 'upgrade' 2000 to make it
2003. You can only *replace* it with 2003 (or install it in a separate
folder to have both on the PC, though in this case there would be no real
point in doing so). If you have a legal copy of 2000, there may be price
concessions for 'upgrading' to 2003.

You can download the trial for 2007 - and 2007 does indeed have the text to
speech function (not voice recognition which is something different) -

I started using a trial version of 2007 in August for advanced Word & Excel
2007 classes. I lost my speech recognition functioning when I uninstalled
2003. To get speech back, I had to reinstall Word 2003, but now it constantly
has to reconfigure 2007 about every 2nd or 3rd time I use it. Word 07 also
crashes frequently. I find this terribly difficult, especially when I need
speech recognition for all of the classes that I take (18 hrs. & working full
time also!). Is there a way to just get the speech recognition back?
