won't dictate

I can use voice commands, but when I say "dictation " nothing happens - I
only hear that annoying "don't recognize" sound. I even did add
pronunciation for a word thing.

Tapping Dictation doesn't work either.

Can anyone help me?

I have the same problem with Word Office 2003. I can use command mode, but
not dictation? Dictation does work in Notepad, why not Word? Thanks for any
suggestions.
