Won't boot w/o DVD

First off Vista installed fine. I have some issues with sound, devices,
drivers, etc. The big problem is booting or rebooting Vista. If I take the
DVD out of the drive or change the boot order back to my HDD i get either a
install disc missing or boot failure message after POST. As long as I keep
the DVD in it boots up fine.

If I had to guess, which apparently we all do given the lack of system
information or installation details, I'd say you installed Vista on a
computer with more than one hard drive, and the Vista boot files were
installed on the other one. Try VistaBootPro or EasyBCD to correct this.

I had a similar issue with XP where it would only boot with the cd in the
drive.
Setting my bios to the default settings fixed it. Something in the boot
order had got screwed up.
