won`t power up

I am just building my 1st computer. Foxconn945gz7mc mobo, intel cpu d
2.8ghz. I have connected everything and the power supply will not turn on.
Nothing, no fan moving, nothing. I am new at this. Could someone offer
some trouble shooting remedies.

Is it a good name-brand psu, or whatever was cheapest. If the latter,
replace with something decent and try again.
