WMV links used to open in Windows Media Player when I would click a link to
one in internet explorer. Now whenever I click on a link to a .wmv movie
file in IE, I get an error message:

"The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be
experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser
settings."

However, when I right click the link and "Save Taget", the file saves fine.

I would like WMV links to open in Windows Media Player. How do I restore
this functionality?

Thanks,
John

Nevermind, figured it out. File associations must have gotten corrupted
somehow.

I opened Windows Media Player, TOOLS>OPTIONS>FILE TYPES. Unchecked the box
for .wmv and clicked "APPLY". Then rechecked the box and when I clicked
"APPLY" again, a small DOS box opened quickly and then closed. After that,
the file association was restored and .WMV links open once again in Windows
Media Player. :-)

I ran into the same problem a while back. I'm not exactly sure what caused
it, but simply uninstalling whatever version of WMP i had and then
reinstalling it fixed the issue.
