WMS idle

you've read/heard about it before.

when shutting down xp pro I get the WMS idle ... end now message.
but clicking yes just throws the entire wms idle ... end now message up again.
click end and windows shuts down.
I am not running Communicator so any pointers in that direction is a waste
of time.
windows opens straight to the desktop and doesn't need login/password details.
17th dec 07 I formatted and installed XP on a clean system.
the problem only arose after I made the mistake of allowing xp to
automatically run and install updates (fool!!!!) so I don't know whereor
which update caused the problem. but it is pissing me off no end.

so helpfully someone out there will have some idea of a fix.

thanks.

splinter,

Go to the services.msc in the control panel or use a run command with
"services.msc". In the services control panel, right click on the Messenger
Service and disable the service from starting automatically. You do this by
changing the startup type to "disable".
