WMP10/MP3/Sync

I already Posted this in the Music NG, but I see 2 prior Posts of a
different nature that have yet to be answered & the last Reply in there was
from the 28th, so thought I'd Post this here, if anyone can help, as I go
into the hospital in a few days & would like to take a functioning mP3
player with me. Thanks so much

Hey all,

I am new to doing this, so bear with me.

I had synced up the MP3 previously, moved all my music there. Then I
changed, or thought I changed some tunes around - deleted some, added some -
but then when I next turned it on, it said No File !

Okay, somehow, I apparently deleted them all ? I didn't think so as I saw
them all in the Right Pane, under the listed Device.

Now when I hook it up again to take a look, I don't see my music list in
the right pane, rather, I see a + sign & a lot of apparently, Chinese words!
So I clicked on the + sign & see a lot of + signs, where my music was
yesterday & more Chinese writing. SO I shut down WMP10, disconnected the MP3
& started over & again, I see the list of + signs & Chinese writing !

NoW WhAt ?!?!

Thanks very much !

First I would recommend that you upgrade to WMP 11 and be sure your
upgrade is in English. Here is the WMP Help website related to "Sync to
Devices" which may be of help to you.

BTW most people store their music files in My Documents\My Music folder
and then use WMP to add files to it from this source. You can delete files
from WMP and not delete them from their source folder My Music etc.
Hopefully you still have your files in the source folder where you can add
them back to WMP.

Thanks ColTom2 as my MP3 suggests either v. 9 or 10, so I stayed with 10.

As far as the rest, by default when I obtained all my music files, they
went to My Music & they're still there. I just ned to figure out what to do
now. I can't get rid of the + signs & Chinese text. Maybe when I start to
sync again, they(+'s & Chinese text) will Delete ? I still don't know what
went wrong as I simply deleted from the Right Pane (MP3) & added from the
left pane(Source), so how did all my music get deleted, I ask rhetorically.

Oh, I didn't see the web site you mentioned but have been to the Help
Section of the WMP.

Thanks again

Woe is me :)

Now when I open WMP, & right click the Chinese Text to Delete it, it won't
do anything - freezes up so to speak. I cannot close it with the X in upper
right, only can I close it via Task Manager. So I scanned it w/ Spybot &
AVG, for whatever reason, & nothing bad was found - aarrrrgggghhhh !

Hi Dallas:

I apologize for leaving out this website:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/faq/sync.mspx and also
the Common FAQ Topics
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/faq/default.mspx.

My rationale for recommending you upgrade to WMP 11 is that hopefully it
will allow you to restore your WMP back to English with upgrade install. In
addition I found this in the WMP Help: Installing and removing the Player.

I recommend that you upgrade and then add all your My Music files back to
WMP 11.

Hi Dallas:

I meant to have said that in upgrading I would uninstall WMP10 prior to
installing WMP11. Afterwards manually run Windows Update.

Hi ColTom2, No need to apologize whatsoever, but thanks for the URL's but I
didn't find out what I wanted to, with respect to why all my music in the
MP3 was somehow deleted

Also, I should have explained this better; the Chinese text was there, as
if it were my music but translated. Tho' it was actually empty. So I did a
test of 1 song & it moved over to the RH pane, per the MP3 & it was in
English, so not sure what the Asian text was or why & how it even got
there - maybe a glitch(gremlin - not the car!)

If I do decide to Upgrade to v. 11, how do I move all My Music from My Docs
to the upgraded WMP - in WinEXP ? Or is there a better way ?

Thanks again !

Hi Dallas:

It's really very simple. Just open up WMP11 and go to Library>click on the
drop down arrow>select Add to library and the check most likely is already
beside "My personal folders" by default. Also most likely your "My Music
folder" is listed as one of the monitored folders, and click on OK at bottom
and all your music files will be transferred to WMP11 post haste. I would
delete any other folders listed other than My Music, if that is where you
have all your files stored on your computer.

Also you can access adding files to WMP11 by going up to File>Add to
library and follow the same remaining instructions as above.

sorry ColTom2, but am having more issues. I have downloaded a bunch already
without a hitch, that is until now.

I get this error message when I try this certain group of songs:" yet I am
now playing those very songs from the Library - so if I can play them, why
won't it copy them to the MP3 ? Also, I tried the Link for help & it took me
to a page from where I got the error below but the message is in regards to
WMP 11 ! I made a Post yesterday I think, that in m,y Update History, it
shows I am using WMP 11, when in fact, I am not; at least I think not as I
click on Help>About & it clearly states am using v. 10 !

this shouldn't be this hard to do - i had them all in place until I wanted
to delete 8-10 & add the same amount :-()

Hi Dallas:

Windows Media Format 11 Runtime is not your WMP 11.
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multim...-Codecs/Windows-Media-Format-Runtime-11.shtml.

I have both Windows Media Format 11 Runtime and Windows Media Player 11
listed in Add/Remove.

Also I use Nero to create a regular audio CD that plays in all audio CD
players and on your PC. You might be needing an application like Nero or
Roxio.
