WMP 11 Re-Install

Tim Bostonia

Is there any way to re-install Windows Media Player 11 in Vista (32bit
Enterprise) ?? WMP 11 is screwed up, as if so often does, but I don't see a
"Vista" download for it... Maybe this is just another "Vista Disaster"... no
fixing it when it breaks and it always breaks ??

Hi Tim--

Precisely how is WMP 11 behaving? Do you have any errors or does typing
eventvwr.msc into run box>applicaitons produce any errors with WMP as the
source?

1) I don't believe that you can reinstall it on Vista--because I have tried
before and it said I already had it.
2) You should say explicitly what problems you're having with it and we
might provide specific help.
3) You can try to correct it by running sfc /scannow from an elevated cmd
prompt, however WMP fixes are often very error specific.

One of the best sources for WMP errors and fixes is MVP Chris Lanier's
blog--check the hyperlinks in the left pane.

I always grin when I see an article from a MSFT MVP entitled this way--and
Chris' blog to me is a must for anyone enthusiastic about MCE or Windows
media. He is very resourceful and keeps up with cutting edge topics:

Memo: to Alberto Gonzales
Monica Goodling
Deputy AG Paul J. McNulty

Two of you lied to Congress under oath--that'd be Gonzales and McNulty.
Goodling tampered with ongoing investigations and tried to manipulate them.
None of you had significant litigation experience and now you are going to
learn to play the role of defendant. The email dump just incriminated you.
And many of you will be gone soon.
