Why is Windows Media Player 11 in Vista slow to open streams from

I am assuming there is no fix for this problem because it is all over the
internet. But heres a shot in the dark.

The issue:
When WMP starts streaming a video file from a click in IE it is extremely
slow to start streaming.

Typically there is an unusually long pause and then "Changing Media...",
another pause a bit shorter, and then your buffered playback begins.

Anyone using this player from WMP 11 in XP immediately recognizes the pause
at the start is unusually long and not present in the XP install of WMP 11

It is not an internet lag thing. I have a stunning fast university
connection. It is not a slow computer thing, most of my vista benchmarks are
above 5.0. (T7500, 2.5 Gig Ram, 6800M GT) It is a WMP 11 in Vista thing...
And from what I can tell it is way up there on annoyances on the internet.

Any vista tweaks to make WMP 11 start streaming as fast as it does in XP
under Vista? I am think maybe some registry setting that turns off whatever
WMP11 is trying to do during that time?

This is fixed in SP1 RC. Windows Media Player 11 basically instant started
wmv streams for me now. Vista is officially coming along!
