WMM2 playback on WMP9

I have no complaints about WMM2, have had wonderful
success in creating photo slide shows. Transitions and
effects work well along with audio background. Playback
on WMP8 is very good, but after installing WMP9 the
pictures were distorted (elongated). I uninstalled 9 and
went back to 8 but would like to know how I can correct
this problem in order to use WMP9.

By "elongated", do you meant that they looked like WMP9 was trying to play
them in widescreen? I had the exact same problem after upgrading to ver. 9,
except that it was my previously-created .mpg files which were distorted.
I found the solution to the problem on the windowsmedia.player NG-
somebody else had posted about the problem, btw, and I found at least three
other posts scattered in other NGs about it, so we're NOT alone in
encountering this bug.

Anyway, this was suggested to another poster with the problem, and it
worked for me, as well:

In media player 9, click on "Tools", then on the tab that says
"Performance". At the bottom, under the slider labeled "Video acceleration",
click on the button that says "Advanced". Uncheck the box that says "Use
video mixing renderer".
