WMM files and Media Player 10

Back in the day of Windows XP SP1, I put a bunch of digital pictures in .jpg
format together in Movie Maker, layed down a backround song track, saved the
project in a .wmv format and had a file that I could share with anyone that
had Media Player.

Now that I'm in that mode again with SP2, I find that I can only save the
WMM project in a .mswmm format. Media Player 10 is telling me that it
doesn't recognize the file format with the following error message:

***Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support
the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the
file.***

It would seem to me that these 2 microsoft applications should play nicer
together in the XP sandbox. Any suggestions?

Gary,

It seems you are confused by the "saving" aspect of MM. You cannot save the
PROJECT in .wmv format. The format of the PROJECT is .mswmm. You can save the
MOVIE as .wmv, and that is compatable with anyone that has media player. The
project is just a blue print for building a movie. Even if you gave someone
the project file, without the source files, it wouldn't even play in MM on
their computer.

Steve,

Thanks for the hint. I had been saving the PROJECT, but had not made my way
down far enough on the navigation features on the left side of MM to find the
type of save that puts the PROJECT into the MOVIE format. Once I did that,
life on the Media Player side is good.

Thanks again.
